A detachable screen.
10 metres away.
FrameTap clips magnetically to the handle and detaches into a Bluetooth remote with its own touchscreen. Mirrors the phone's view or the Multifunctional Module 2's tracking feed. Tap a detection box to lock a subject; tap another to switch. Joystick controls pan, tilt, and zoom. The first solo-creator gimbal you can frame from across the room.
Tracks through crowds.
Reacquires after occlusion.
ActiveTrack 8.0 in the DJI Mimo app handles the scenes earlier versions struggled with — packed concerts, exhibitions, sports arenas. Holds a subject across obstructions and fast camera shifts. Smart Capture detects multiple subjects; tap any one's detection box to switch the lock.
People, pets,
cars, objects.
The new Multifunctional Module 2 expands tracking beyond people and animals — locks onto vehicles, landmarks, and any general object with clear edges occupying more than 10% of the frame. Sold with the Advanced Tracking Combo and Creator Combo; sold separately for Standard. Also feeds the live view to FrameTap.
8th-generation.
Boosted motors.
Eighth-generation stabilisation with stronger motors than Mobile 7P. Holds steady at low ground angles, through rapid pan switches, and across spinning shots. Tilt the pan axis forward for low-level tracking — pets, kids, road-level vlogs.
Tap the iPhone.
Native tracking starts.
iPhone users tap the gimbal's NFC patch to pair via Apple DockKit — tracking then runs inside the native iPhone Camera, Facebook, YouTube, and Blackmagic Camera apps. No DJI Mimo app required. Android phones get NFC pairing into Mimo. After first pair, subsequent connections are automatic.
215 mm rod.
Wider tripod stance.
Built-in 215 mm extension rod for selfies, group framing, and overhead shots. The redesigned tripod uses three independently-spread legs (split design instead of integrated) for steadier set-down on uneven surfaces. Phone Clamp 5 is smaller and lighter than the OM 7 Series clamp.

Need to know.
Should I upgrade from Osmo Mobile 8?+
Worth it if FrameTap solves a real problem for you — solo creators who frame from a distance, vloggers who need to step into shot, anyone tired of running back to the phone to start recording. Module 2's object tracking (cars, landmarks) is genuinely new. Less compelling if you mostly track people up close — Mobile 8 already does that well, and ActiveTrack 8.0 firmware was pushed to Mobile 8 via update.
Standard, Advanced Tracking, or Creator Combo?+
Standard (₹13,990): gimbal, FrameTap remote, Phone Clamp 5, cables, pouch. Advanced Tracking (₹16,990): adds Multifunctional Module 2 — recommended for most creators since the module unlocks object tracking and feeds FrameTap. Creator (₹21,990): adds DJI Mic Mini 2 receiver and transmitter for wireless audio. Creator Combo only makes sense if you need wireless mic and don't already own one.
Is FrameTap waterproof?+
No. Neither the gimbal body nor the FrameTap remote is waterproof. Splash-resistance is not rated. Don't shoot in heavy rain; cover the FrameTap if you're filming near water.
Does it work with the Multifunctional Module from Mobile 7P / Mobile 8?+
Yes for tracking and audio, but the older Module 1 won't transmit video to the FrameTap screen. Only the new Module 2 mirrors its tracking feed to the remote. If you have an older module from a previous Osmo, you can still use it — you'll just frame from the phone, not the FrameTap.
