What Hollywood
is flying.
The DJI Inspire 3 is the platform behind aerial work on streaming series, theatrical features, and major commercials. Full-frame Zenmuse X9-8K Air gimbal camera. 8K/75fps in CinemaDNG, 8K/25fps in Apple ProRes. 14+ stops dynamic range. Dual-native ISO at EI 800 and EI 4000 for clean low-light. DL-mount accepts DJI's 18mm, 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm cinema lenses. Integrates with Master Wheels and Ronin 4D for full DJI PRO ecosystem workflows.
Full-frame.
35.4 MP.
The X9-8K Air integrates a full-frame 36×24mm CMOS sensor with 35.4 effective megapixels — the same sensor approach used in dedicated cinema cameras. 14+ stops dynamic range across the EI 800 and EI 4000 dual-native ISO points means the camera handles backlit subjects, deep shadows, and bright skies in the same frame without grading compromises. ISO range extends from 100 to typical highest usable values for night exterior work.
ProRes RAW.
CinemaDNG.
Three professional codecs: 8K/75fps in CinemaDNG (full RAW image stack), 8K/25fps in Apple ProRes RAW (RAW with compression), and ProRes 422 HQ for ingest-friendly workflows. 6K/60fps and 4K/120fps options for slow-motion. Recording to internal DJI PROSSD 1TB drive (USB-C direct editing — connect the SSD to a Mac and edit straight from it). Footage drops directly into DaVinci Resolve, Premiere, and Final Cut Pro X without transcoding.
18 · 24 · 35 · 50.
Cinema primes.
The Inspire 3 ships with the X9-8K Air gimbal and accepts DJI's DL-mount cinema lens system: DL 18mm f/2.8, DL 24mm f/2.8, DL 35mm f/2.8, DL 50mm f/2.8. Each lens is colour-matched to the system and auto-aperture compatible with the gimbal control electronics. For productions requiring specific focal lengths or shallow depth of field characteristics, this is meaningfully different from fixed-lens drone cameras — the cinematographer gets to pick the lens, not be stuck with the manufacturer's choice.
RTK. Master Wheels.
Dual control.
Built-in RTK module enables centimetre-level positioning — essential for virtual production, repeatable shot blocking, and VFX workflows where the camera position is logged for compositing. Dual-control mode lets a pilot fly while a separate camera operator controls the gimbal — standard practice on professional crews. DJI Master Wheels integration provides physical wheel control for fluid camera moves at 432°/s. Timecode sync supports multi-camera production.

Inspire 3 vs Mavic 4 Pro Creator Combo.
Mavic 4 Pro Creator
Prosumer flagship
Inspire 3
Cinema flagship
Need to know.
Inspire 3 or Mavic 4 Pro — which to choose? +
Different tools for different productions. Mavic 4 Pro is the prosumer flagship — capable, foldable, easy to deploy, sufficient for commercials, documentary, YouTube production, and most paid commercial work. Up to 6K/60 ProRes RAW with the 100 MP Hasselblad sensor. Inspire 3 is the cinema platform — full-frame sensor, 8K/75 CinemaDNG, swappable cinema primes, dual-control workflow, and DJI PRO ecosystem integration. Choose Inspire 3 for streaming series, theatrical features, high-end commercials where the production budget supports the platform. The Mavic 4 Pro covers everything below that tier.
Why is the flight time only 28 minutes? +
Full-frame cameras with mechanical gimbals are heavy. The X9-8K Air gimbal alone is ~516 g (without lens), and the aircraft carries six TB51 batteries (470g each). At 3,995 g take-off weight, 28 minutes is consistent with what's physically possible for a full-frame cinema platform — and the kit includes six batteries specifically because productions plan around battery swaps between takes, not extended single flights. For comparison, Hollywood production drones with similar sensor classes have always operated in this 25-30 minute window.
Does the Inspire 3 work with my existing camera kit? +
Yes. DJI PROSSD 1TB recording media reads natively on Mac via USB-C — no card readers required. Footage in ProRes RAW or ProRes 422 HQ drops into DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut Pro X with the same workflow as RED, ARRI, or Sony Venice content. The Inspire 3 integrates with DJI Master Wheels for ground-control camera operation, Ronin 4D for matched ground/aerial shooting, and supports timecode sync for multi-camera production. It's designed to fit existing professional camera-department workflows.
Is the Inspire 3 DGCA-compliant? +
The Inspire 3 takes off at approximately 3,995 g — DGCA Medium class (2 kg to 25 kg). Requires Digital Sky registration (UIN), Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC), and operations only in approved zones. For broadcast and theatrical productions, additional permits may apply through MoCA. Sold only to authorised entities per Indian regulation: licensed production houses, broadcasters, post-production studios, and educational institutions. Our team handles registration, import documentation, and production permit consultation.
