76,800 ranging points.
20-metre subject focus.
Pair with the DJI Focus Pro LiDAR to get 76,800 ranging points covering subjects up to 20 metres away. Next-gen ActiveTrack Pro locks onto moving subjects with cinematic-grade smoothness. Solo cinematographers get autofocus performance previously requiring a focus puller.
4.5 kg capacity.
20% more torque.
Carbon fiber axis arms support tested payloads up to 4.5 kg with 20% more motor torque than RS 3 Pro. Mainstream mirrorless and small cinema bodies — Sony FX3, Canon R5C, RED Komodo with cine zoom — balance with power redundancy, not at the limit.
Two motors.
Joystick + dial.
Mount two Focus Pro Motors simultaneously — one for focus, one for zoom. Joystick controls zoom; front dial controls focus. Pair with Focus Pro Hand Unit and High-Bright Remote Monitor for two-channel remote control. Power Zoom for PZ lenses, Clear Image Zoom for compatible bodies.
2nd-gen native.
No accessories.
Newly designed gimbal horizontal plate releases and secures into vertical position without any additional brackets. Switch from horizontal to vertical in seconds — useful for short-form social content delivered alongside main horizontal coverage.
Image transmitter.
LiDAR + Transmission together.
Built-in DJI Ronin Image Transmitter with 200m range, 60ms latency, 1080p output. Focus Pro LiDAR to DJI Transmission Cable Hub powers LiDAR and the Video Transmitter simultaneously, enables LiDAR Waveform display, and brings everything to one hand unit.
13 hours stock.
29 hours with BG70.
BG30 grip delivers 13 hours of runtime with the gimbal balanced and stationary. Pair with the optional DJI RS BG70 High-Capacity Battery Grip to extend runtime to 29 hours and supply 18W power to the camera and accessories via USB-C. 1.5 hours to full charge with 24W PD charger.

Need to know.
RS 4 Pro vs RS 4 — which?+
RS 4 Pro if you shoot cinema cameras (FX3, R5C, Komodo) with cine zooms, want LiDAR autofocus, or run dual focus + zoom motors. RS 4 if you mainly use mainstream mirrorless under 3 kg with autofocus on the camera. The price gap is justified at the 4 kg+ payload tier; below it, RS 4 is the better value.
Standalone vs Combo — what ships?+
Standalone includes the gimbal, BG30 Battery Grip, Quick-Release Plate (Arca-Swiss/Manfrotto), Briefcase Handle, Carrying Case, and standard accessories. Combo adds the Ronin Image Transmitter and Focus Pro Motor. If you already own DJI Transmission and Focus Pro hardware, standalone makes sense; for first-time buyers, Combo saves on individual accessory costs.
Can I use it without LiDAR?+
Yes. RS 4 Pro is a fully capable gimbal without any DJI Focus Pro hardware — manual focus via the front dial, ActiveTrack via the standard tracking module, and full payload support. LiDAR is an optional upgrade for cinematographers who specifically need its 76,800-point precision and 20m range.
BG70 grip — worth it?+
If your shoots routinely run 8+ hours, yes — the BG70 takes runtime from 13 to 29 hours and provides 18W USB-C power to the camera. For shorter shoots or studio work near power, the standard BG30 is sufficient. The BG70 also adds noticeable weight, so balance with your handheld stamina.
